Marc Shepard, a more than two-decade General Dynamics Land Systems veteran, has joined Rafael Systems Global Sustainment as vice president and general manager.
New Michigan Office
RSGS said Thursday Shepard will oversee the new office in Sterling Heights, Michigan, to help meet the needs of defense, government and industry customers.
“We’re excited to be in Michigan and closer to the customers and partners who are shaping the future of defense. Our team is eager to contribute to the region’s strong innovation ecosystem and deliver solutions that matter,” Shepard said in a statement.
Through the new Michigan office, RSGS will generate new jobs, support U.S. defense priorities and forge partnerships to deliver mission-critical capabilities to U.S. warfighters.
“The opening of our Michigan office demonstrates that RSGS continues to invest in the long-term needs of a robust Americanization effort focused on cutting-edge technologies to support our warfighters. Our focus is to work closely with both our industry and government customers in a collaborative nature to ensure we deliver capabilities critical to the fight,” said Joseph Anderson, president and CEO of RSGS and a 2025 Wash100 awardee.
Marc Shepard’s Career Background
Shepard spent 23 years at General Dynamics Land Systems, where he held several leadership roles, including senior program manager for the U.S. Marine Corps Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle and senior department manager for autonomy, C4ISR, cyber and vehicle protection systems.
At GDLS, he led research and development projects on cyber resiliency across current and future vehicle platforms.
The Michigan State University mechanical engineering graduate is an expert in survivability and hit avoidance systems. He has notable experience analyzing active protection system technologies and their application to military vehicles.
