Australia-based communications technology company Codan Group has agreed to acquire Kagwerks as part of a push to advance its strategic growth plan, broaden its market presence and expand the capabilities of its tactical communications business unit.
Codan said Wednesday Kagwerks is a developer of radio-agnostic dismounted soldier systems that deliver communications capabilities to warfighters in contested environments.
Paul Sangster, president and executive general manager of Codan’s Tactical Communications segment, noted that Kagwerks’ intellectual property has been field-tested and accepted into the U.S. Department of Defense and the company’s background will enable the business unit to take part in additional tenders for other initiatives.
“A key strategic objective is to improve our revenue predictability, and by participating in Programs of Record this will increase predictability by securing stable, long-term multi-year contracts,” he added.
The Tactical Communications segment of Codan provides communications platforms for defense, law enforcement, broadcast, unmanned systems and humanitarian operations worldwide.
“Together Tactical Communications and Kagwerks represent a full solutions provider that will increase opportunities across key military and law enforcement markets. The combined business also positions us to leverage international distribution channels, opening new growth and collaboration opportunities in global markets,” added Sangster.
