Mohamad Ali Succeeds John Granger as SVP of IBM Consulting

Mohamad Ali, formerly CEO of IDG, has been named senior vice president of IBM‘s (NYSE: IBM) professional services and consulting arm, succeeding John Granger, who is retiring after two decades of service to the company.

Granger will become chairman of IBM Consulting and a senior adviser to Arvind Krishna, chairman and CEO of IBM, until 2025 to ensure a smooth leadership transition, Krishna announced Wednesday.

“John has been a lead architect of the strategy for Consulting, a key growth engine for IBM. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to John for his outstanding dedication,” Krishna said.

Ali’s new capacity adds to his current role as chief operating officer at IBM Consulting responsible for overseeing the delivery of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence-enabled tools to customers worldwide.

His industry career includes roles such as CEO of Carbonite and chief strategy officer at Hewlett Packard. He concurrently sits on the boards of iRobot (Nasdaq: IRBT) and Henry Schein (Nasdaq: HSIC).

Krishna said Kelly Chambliss will remain in her role as SVP of IBM Consulting Americas.
