State Department OKs $140M Sale of Aircraft Contractor Logistics Support to Iraq

The Department of State has approved the government of Iraq’s request to buy from the U.S. government C-172 and AC/RC-208 aircraft contractor logistics support, training and related equipment through a potential $140 million foreign military sales agreement.

Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will serve as the principal contractor in the FMS transaction, which will enable the Middle Eastern country to maintain and sustain its fleet of C-172 and AC/RC-208 planes to meet existing and future threats, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.

Congress has been notified of the proposed sale, which also includes overhaul and depot-level maintenance support, spare and repair parts, minor modifications and upgrades, U.S. government and contractor engineering, subscription services, logistics, technical and program support services.

The proposed deal will not require the deployment of any additional U.S. government or contractor representatives to Iraq.
