The Department of War said Thursday the award increases the contract’s total cumulative value to approximately $5.36 billion.

What Is the Scope of the Army Contract?

The modification covers the production of five LTAMDS units and six spare systems for the Army. Work includes new production hardware, software and services required for system production and documentation.

Army Contracting Command received one bid through an online solicitation process and obligated $725.9 million in fiscal 2026 missile procurement funds at the time of award.

Raytheon will perform work in Andover, Massachusetts, through Aug. 29, 2031.

What Is LTAMDS?

LTAMDS is a radar designed to counter hypersonic weapons and other advanced, next-generation threats. It has three antenna arrays built to provide 360-degree coverage for detecting and engaging multiple air and missile threats.

In January, Raytheon received a $1 billion Army contract modification to support year two production of LTAMDS. The company also secured a separate $1.7 billion modification to advance radar system production.
