Ryan Higgins, formerly chief information security officer and deputy chief information officer at the Department of Commerce, has been named acting CIO and chief AI officer at DOC.
The Federal CIO Council announced the move Wednesday on LinkedIn and said that Higgins has provided oversight of DOC’s enterprise cybersecurity functions and coordinated incident response activities in his previous roles.
Higgins’ government career includes time as assistant director for administration at the U.S. Trustee Program, a Department of Justice component that oversees bankruptcy parties and private estate trustees.
He also served as assistant director for cybersecurity services, acting director for policy and planning and acting director for service engineering within the Justice Management Division Office of the Chief Information Officer.
