Peter Torrellas Named Cubic Transportation Systems President

Peter Torrellas, an industry executive who has led digital transformation initiatives, has officially assumed responsibilities as a senior vice president of Cubic and president of the company’s transportation systems business division.

He succeeds Jeff Lowinger, who went into retirement after being at the helm of Cubic Transportation Systems for over three years, the company said Monday.

In this capacity, Torrellas will lead the strategic vision of CTS and help the business build up its customer base and improve partnerships with existing clients.

“Peter brings expertise across a diverse infrastructure portfolio founded in transportation, positioning him as a great fit for Cubic and the right leader to take our transportation business and Cubic forward,” said Steve Slijepcevic, CEO of Cubic and a two-time Wash100 awardee.

Torrellas joined Cubic from Parsons (NYSE: PSN), where he served as global business unit president of connected communities and oversaw a team of 2,500 engineers and innovators in traffic management, rail systems, utilities, aviation and environmental remediation. He also founded the company’s digital transformation arm, Parsons X.

Before Parsons, he held leadership roles at Siemens, including managing partner for digital cities and infrastructure at Siemens Advanta and head of smart cities and communities at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.
