James Merante, a certified public accountant with operations management experience at public and private companies, has been appointed senior vice president of finance, strategy and corporate development at Day and Zimmermann.
D&Z said Friday the newly created role will require Merante to align corporate finance and strategy-related functional teams to drive organizational growth.
He served as VP and treasurer at American Water (NYSE: AWK) for the past four years. He joined the publicly traded water and wastewater utility company in 2014 as chief financial officer and VP of internal audit for its mid-Atlantic division.
Merante has more than two decades of industry experience from accounting to financial and strategic business planning, treasury and mergers and acquisitions.
Earlier in his career, he worked for KPMG, Conversant and FSM.
