Army Beats Navy in Double-Overtime Football Matchup

The Army West Point’s Black Knights defeated the U.S. Naval Academy’s Midshipmen by a final score of 20-17 in the 123rd edition of the football rivalry game between the two military academies, The Washington Post reported.

Saturday’s event at the Lincoln Financial Field stadium in Philadelphia marked the first Army-Navy matchup to reach overtime in the series history.

Army kicker Quinn Maretzki helped his team gain victory with a 39-yard field goal after Navy running back Anton Hall Jr. lost a forced fumble while trying to get into the end zone in the second overtime.

Defense Secretary and two-time Wash100 winner Lloyd Austin tossed the coin to start the annual game.
