Army Taps Sig Sauer for $157M Rifle Cartridge Production Contract

New Hampshire-based weapons maker Sig Sauer has won a five-year, $157.3 million contract to produce Norma Magnum rifle cartridges for the U.S. Army.

The service branch ordered .300 M1163 ball ammunition and .338 M1162 armor piercing rounds, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Army Contracting Command received three bids for the firm-fixed-price contract via an online solicitation.

Sig Sauer is also the winner of a potential 10-year, $4.5 billion contract in April to supply soldiers with the Next Generation Squad Weapon with a common 6.8 millimeter ammunition and fire control system.
