CPI to Buy L3Harris’ Ground Radome Manufacturing Business; Andy Ivers Quoted

Communications & Power Industries has agreed to acquire L3Harris Technologies’ (NYSE: LHX) ESSCO business for an undisclosed sum as part of efforts to expand CPI’s portfolio of ground-based radomes for defense and government agency clients.

Massachusetts-based ESSCO manufactures ground-based metal space frame radomes supporting air defense, satellite telemetry and tracking, air traffic control, weather radar and other applications, CPI said Monday.

The transaction is expected to be finalized before the end of 2021 and CPI said it expects to combine ESSCO’s ground radome production capabilities with its knowledge and experience in shipboard and airborne radomes.

“The combination of our organizations will enable both businesses to grow and will enhance the portfolio of products and services we are able to offer customers for communications, radar and electronic warfare applications,” said Andy Ivers, president and chief operating officer of CPI.
