Andrew Underhill, formerly chief technology officer at GovernmentCIO, has joined B3 Group as chief technologist for initiatives under the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Digital Transformation Center contract.
He brings two decades of business and technology development and professional services experience in the U.S. and European markets, B3 Group said Wednesday.
Underhill will be part of a team that aims to help the VA modernize information technology operations as part of a $686 million contract announced in September 2019.
He previously supported technology programs at the department during his tenure as chief technologist at Systems Made Simple and served as a member of nonprofit organizations such as the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange and Health Level Seven.
“As we continue to mature our DTC program, Andrew has the expertise from his previous roles to assist in helping to scale this project,” said Matthew Garvey, vice president of digital services at B3 Group.
“He comes to us at a critical juncture and will help the team make the right investments to help the VA reach their long-term objectives,” Garvey added.
