Maxar-Busek Team Tests Solar Electric Propulsion Tech; Robert Curbeam Quoted

TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 29, 2021 — A partnership between Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR) and Busek completed hot-fire testing of a thruster system for the power and propulsion element Maxar is building for NASA’s lunar Gateway platform, ExecutiveBiz reported March 19.

Busek said March 18 the solar electric propulsion subsystem of PPE spacecraft consists of four BHT-6000 Hall effect thrusters, Maxar’s PPU-6000 control electronics technology and a Moog-made xenon feed system.

“We continue to make steady progress on the PPE, with the next major milestone being the spacecraft preliminary design review, which is targeted for later this year,” said Robert Curbeam, senior vice president of space capture at Maxar.
