NXT Communications has established a defense division focused on delivering antenna systems to provide special forces and other warfighters with satellite communications capability while on the move.
NXTCOMM Defense’s electronically steered antenna can enable warfighters to track multiple satellites in low- and medium-Earth orbits and establish connectivity, the company said Wednesday.
Stephen Newell, chief commercial officer at NXTCOMM, said the company’s flat panel antenna technology will work to provide rugged connectivity to special operators and military users who need flexible systems to operate across various platforms.
NXTCOMM expects to finish over-the-air tests of its core subarray in the fourth quarter of this year with plans to transition to full prototyping in early 2021. The company plans to announce partnerships with several military system providers before the end of the year.
