SOS International has acquired Denmark-based data analytics software firm NorthStar Systems for an undisclosed sum as part of efforts to broaden its core service offerings.
“We’re continuing to expand our strategic position by acquiring unique and differentiating technologies where we see the potential for growth,” Julian Setian, SOSi president and CEO and a 2020 Wash100 award winner, said in a statement published Tuesday.
Setian added the company is advancing the development of communication and human language technology applications in the U.S. government market, such as automatic speech recognition, neural network-based machine translation and artificial intelligence.
SOSi has developed a cloud-based AI platform and a data analytics tool designed to identify trends in large volumes of data to help enhance situational awareness and support national security missions.
The transaction is SOSi’s fifth acquisition in the past four years.
