Austal USA has received a potential $370.7M contract modification to design and construct the U.S. Navy’s 13th and 14th Expeditionary Fast Transport ships.
The modification has a face value of $261.8M and definitizes contract actions for EPF 13 and 14 long lead-time materials in addition to the detail design and construction effort, the Department of Defense said Monday.
EPFs are designed to transport intra-theater personnel, supplies and equipment for the Navy, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Navy will obligate $296.4M in fiscal 2018 and fiscal 2019 shipbuilding and conversion funds at the time of award. Work will occur through July 2022 at various locations in Alabama, Michigan, Virginia, Texas, Massachusetts, Louisiana and Michigan.
