Richard White

TYSONS CORNER, VA, September 7, 2018 — SSL will help NASA conduct a feasibility study on the use of space-based commercial habitats to house satellite manufacturing operations in an effort to address challenges in launch schedules and volume, ExecutiveBiz reported Aug. 30.

Parent company Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR) said Aug. 29 SSL will explore the possibility of transferring spacecraft production to space in a move that could facilitate new business opportunities or system designs.

“[We] work closely with NASA to explore concepts that implement next-generation business models to stimulate private demand for commercial human spaceflight,” noted Richard White, president of SSL’s government systems business.
