Boeing to Supply Army Block I Chinook Helicopters Under $181M Contract

Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a potential $181.3 million contract to manufacture up to 156 CH-47F Chinook helicopters in Block I configuration for the U.S. Army.

The Defense Department said Thursday the service branch will determine work locations and funds with each order under the multiyear 2 aircraft production contract that runs through Dec. 31, 2022.

The first Block II CH-47F unit entered the final assembly phase in June as part of the Army’s initiative to upgrade more than 500 units with the new configuration.

Boeing aims to complete the initial Chinook upgrade next year and deliver the modernized helicopter to the service branch by 2023.
