General Atomics Unit Books $53M Army Gray Eagle Sustainment Contract

General Atomics’ aeronautical systems business unit has secured a $52.9 million contract to help the U.S. Army sustain its fleet of MQ-1C Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft systems.

Under the five-year contract, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems will perform sustainment and logistics support for Gray Eagle at its facility in Poway, California, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Army Contracting Command received one bid for the hybrid contract and will obligate $53 million in the service branch’s fiscal 2024 operation and maintenance funds at the time of award.

DOD expects work to conclude by April 23, 2029.

GA-ASI provides technical services for the Army’s Gray Eagle aircraft fleet under a $561.5 million contract awarded in early April.

In December 2023, the Army awarded GA-ASI a $389 million contract to produce and deliver the extended-range variant of the multipurpose UAS.
