India has signed $737 million contract to procure 145 BAE Systems Inc.-developed artillery guns through a foreign military sales transaction with the U.S. government, Defense News reported Wednesday.

Defense procurement officials in India approved a proposal in June to acquire $750 million worth of M777 Howitzer artillery guns with an estimated 120 out of 145 units to be assembled in the country.
India-based defense contractor Mahindra supported BAE in the assembly of 120 ultralight howitzers as well as another 25 guns to be delivered within the next three years.
