TYSONS CORNER, VA, Nov. 15, 2016 — AT&T (NYSE: T) and NASA have partnered to study traffic management methods for unmanned aircraft systems in support of secure drone operations within the national airspace, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

The company said Thursday it collaborated with the space agency and other firms to develop new wireless networking technology that will work to boost the security of UAS flight path monitoring, flight planning, navigation, surveillance and tracking.

“Drones are already used in agriculture, public safety, construction, utilities, real estate and TV, ” said Mike Leff, vice president of AT&T’s global public sector solutions business for civilian agencies.

“This research can help support the commercial and private use of drones nationwide, ” he added.
