L-3 to Integrate Mission Systems on Coast Guard C-130J Aircraft

AC130JA division of L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) will manufacture, test and install mission systems on two C-130J long-range surveillance planes under a potential five-year, $93 million contract with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Texas-based L-3 Platform Integration will also carry out mission system integration work on three additional C-130J baseline-configuration aircraft and convert seven HC-130J combat search and rescue planes as options to the contract, L-3 said Thursday.

The Coast Guard built the mission systems with the U.S. Navy for use across different platforms.

L-3 Platform Integration has offered similar mission integration support for the Navy as well as avionics modernization, structural refurbishment and weapons system installation services for C-130 planes used by U.S. Special Operations Command and the U.S. Air Force.

L-3 also provides information assurance, C4ISR equipment integration and communications systems production services for the UCoast Guard’s Fast Response Cutter, Offshore Patrol Cutter and National Security Cutter.
