MIT Awarded $3B to Help Run National Security Tech R&D Hub

research-and-development-RDThe U.S. Air Force has awarded the Massachusetts Institute of Technology a potential $3 billion contract to manage a federally funded research and development center in Lexington, Massachusetts, for national security projects.

USAF tasked the university to run the Lincoln Laboratory FFRDC and help build rapid system prototyping and demonstration methods at the facility, the Defense Department said Monday.

Work will occur through March 31, 2020, under the sole-source contract.

The Air Force Lifecycle Management Center is the contracting activity and the military service is obligating $600, 000 at the time of award from fiscal 2015 operations and maintenance funds.
