HII Subsidiary to Build 8th US National Security Cutter for $500M; Jim French Comments

Huntington Ingalls HIIA Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) division has been awarded a $499.8 million contract to build the U.S. Coast Guard‘s eighth national security cutter.

Ingalls Shipbuilding scheduled the delivery of the NSC Midgett to the military branch for 2019, HII said Tuesday.

“We continue to fold in learning for each ship we build, and the three under construction right now are tracking well because of this knowledge, ” said Jim French, Ingalls’ NSC program manager.

NSCs are intended to replace the Coast Guard’s Hamilton-class vessels and support maritime security, environmental protection and national defense operations.

To date, Ingalls has provided the military service with four NSCs.
