BAE Systems Plc is exploring a potential sale of the British defense contractor’s U.S.-based manpower and services division,  which provides information technology support services to U.S. government agencies.
BAE said Friday a group of external advisers will help perform a strategic review of the business as it has “generated external interest and a number of enquiries.”
The manpower and services division is a part of the intelligence and security sector within BAE’s U.S. subsidiary — BAE Systems Inc.
BAE added “there can be no certainty that any transaction will occur” and said any potential deal would not include the sector’s geospatial intelligence business or the cybersecurity and intelligence business that operates as BAE Systems Applied Intelligence.
According to MarketWatch, the manpower and services division generated $800 million in sales last year and has close to 9, 000 employees.
