Omar Balkissoon: OGSystems Makes Geospatial Tech Push with Urban Robotics Buy


balkissoon_omar_smallOGSystems has bought aerial data collection technology developer Urban Robotics for an undisclosed amount as the companies aim to fuse their geospatial imaging platforms for defense and intelligence organizations.

“The Urban Robotics acquisition complements OGS by matching our entrepreneurial and idea-driven culture and furthering our reputation for geospatial engineering innovation, ” Omar Balkissoon, CEO of OGSystems, said Thursday.

Chantilly, Virginia-based OGSystems also seeks to leverage Urban Robotics’ cluster computing, algorithms and three-dimensional models to help military customers plan special operations.

The transaction also allows the companies to share engineering and technical expertise as well as collaborate on ISR remote sensing development through OGSystems’ Viper Labs.
