Brendan Bechtel Named Bechtel Group President, COO; Bill Dudley Comments

Brendan Bechtel — president of Bechtel‘s oil, gas and chemicals business and son of Board Chairman Riley Bechtel — has been promoted to group president and chief operating officer, effective Aug. 1.

The younger Bechtel will report to Chief Executive Officer Bill Dudley and serve as a member of the board of directors, the company said Thursday.

“Brendan has proven himself as an extraordinary leader, earning the respect of colleagues and customers while working in many diverse sectors of the company, ” Dudley said.

Bechtel has led the company’s oil, gas and chemicals business unit and helped lead efforts to land a contract award for work on the Tilbury LNG facility expansion project in Canada.

He will be succeeded at the helm of this segment by Jack Futcher, currently an executive vice president and a former president of the power business unit.
