Bechtel Reorganizes Executive Leadership Team, Appoints Bill Dudley CEO; Riley Bechtel Comments

Bill Dudley, formerly president and chief operating officer of Bechtel Corp., has been named president and CEO of that company as part of its executive realignment.

Dudley succeeds Riley Bechtel, who will remain chairman of Bechtel’s board of directors, Bechtel said Monday.

“Bill has been our top candidate for CEO succession for some time, and he is well qualified in every respect to take over now, ” Riley Bechtel said.

Dudley joined the engineering company in 1981 and has since held various executive roles including managing worldwide projects.

BechtelHe also served as president of Bechtel’s Europe, Africa, Middle East and Southwest Asia region, and the oil, gas and chemicals business unit.

Dudley was appointed to the company’s board of directors in 2000 and became president and chief operating officer in 2008.

Bechtel has also named Jack Futcher, formerly president of the oil, gas and chemicals business, as executive vice president and sponsor of the oil, gas, and chemicals and mining and metals business units.

Brendan Bechtel, formerly general manager of the company’s liquefied natural gas business, will take over Futcher’s vacated position and Alasdair Cathcart will succeed Brendan.

There are currently three generations of the Bechtel family serving in the 116-year old firm.
