Craig England to Lead Investment Bank England & Co’s New A&D, Government Unit


budget_EBizWashington-based investment bank England & Co. has created a business unit that will focus on raising capital and providing financial advice to aerospace, defense and government organizations.

Edward Bersoff, a government contracting veteran and founder of information technology firm BTG Inc., will serve as senior adviser for the bank’s ADG practice, England & Co. said.

“Our goal is to become the leading full-service middle market investment bank for ADG companies, ” said company founder and CEO Craig England, who will lead the unit.

“We are committed to helping executives and business owners grow the value of their companies through arranging growth capital, assisting them with acquisitions, helping them work through difficult patches and, when the timing is right, advising them on the optimal liquidity event, ” England added.

Bersoff founded BTG in 1982 and held the president and chief executive roles there until the company’s sale to Titan Corp. in 2001. He also served as chairman and CEO at Virginia-based publicly traded IT firm ATS Corp., now a subsidiary of Salient Federal Solutions.

Other previous roles include work as a rector at the Virginia Commonwealth University, a trustee at New York University and a board member at the George Mason University Foundation as well as at the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation.

Bersoff is an advisory board member of England & Co. and chairs the board of trustees for Holy Cross Hospital. He earned his A.B., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from New York University and finished a graduate program in owner/president management at Harvard Business School.
