Al Kinney: HP to Help DHS Acquire Security Software for Cyber Defense

HP logoHewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) will provide licenses for two application security products to 33 U.S. government civilian organizations under a Department of Homeland Security-run cyber defense program.

The company was awarded a $32.4 million contract for the licenses as part of DHS’ potential five-year, $6 billion Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation contract vehicle, the company said Wednesday.

HP will give 33 federal agencies access to the company’s enterprise-grade security assurance tools that are built to help manage IT software and system risks.

“In today’s technology-based society, there is nothing more important than protecting our nation’s cyberspace so citizens will have continuous and secure access to services, ” said Al Kinney, vice president of cybersecurity solutions for the U.S. public sector at HP Enterprise Services.

Kinney added the company aims to help government clients analyze, report and mitigate computer threats through the DHS program.

DHS ordered HP’s WebInspect online application testing platform and Fortify Static Code Analyzer, a software validation tool.
