CMS Picks 18 Contractors for $800M Care Evaluation IDIQ

HealthThe Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has awarded positions on a potential five-year, $800 million contract to 18 companies and nonprofit organizations to develop measures for evaluating healthcare quality.

CMS intends for the Measure and Instrument Development and Support program to help the agency evaluate care the national, community and facility levels, CMS said in a FedBizOpps notice dated Sept. 20.

MIDS also is intended to align with CMS’ blueprint for developing and maintaining clinical quality measures based on electronic health records.

Eligible contractors will compete for task orders under the five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to develop, test, refine, revise, maintain, implement and publicly-report care measures.

Awardees will also be responsible for carrying out environmental scans providing technical support for CMS’ consensus entity endorsement process.
