ATK to Test MDA Divert, Attitude Control Systems Tech

ATK (NYSE: ATK) will develop and test solid divert and attitude control systems technologies for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency under a $52, 772, 432 contract.

The Defense Department said MDA awarded the contract as part of its technology development strategy aimed at addressing risk and performance for ballistic missile defense interceptor divert and attitude control systems.

MDA will allocate $200, 000 in fiscal 2012 research, development, test and evaluation funds to incrementally support contract work.

ATK won the contract through a competitive procurement process and will perform work in Elkton, Md. between October 2012 and September 2014.

The company recently won a $78 million Navy contract to produce a guided missile for the U.S. and Italy.
