Air Force Issues Touchscreen Multimedia Player RFI

The Air Force’s Air Mobility Command wants to buy touchscreen handheld multimedia players, according to a request for information posted Monday on FedBizOpps.

Contractors are asked to provide information on handheld devices that support music, video, photo and E-books and can be accessed through removable memory cards.

Respondents should be able to provide pocket-sized media players that can support Pashto and Dari languages and be powered with internal, rechargeable batteries.

The Air Force said it also wants to purchase accessories for the devices such as standard vehicle outlet chargers and backup power source components, such as solar panel chargers.

Industry respondents would be responsible for providing hardware and software that can track accessed files, duration and frequency of access to the files.

The Air Force also wants to summarize usage statistics from the SD memory card.

Devices should duplicate data on 50 SD cards at the same time from a standalone system and SD memory cards should also have digitally assigned unique serial numbers.

Responses to the RFI are due by June 29 and vendors should include responses to eight specific questions listed in the posting.
