Kratos to Compete for $86M on Navy Education IDIQ

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions (NASDAQ: KTOS) has won a position on a potential $86, 367, 858 U.S. Navy contract for education training products and services.

The Defense Department said the company received the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award through a competitive procurement on the Navy’s electronic commerce website, with 28 offers received.

Nine companies total will compete for task orders to support the Naval Education Training Command and its training and professional development and technology center.

Ninety percent of the work will occur in Pensacola, Fla. and the remainder will occur in San Diego.

The Pentagon expects initial work to finish on April 6, 2013 with options potentially running through April 6, 2015.

The Naval Supply Systems Command’s fleet logistics office in Philadelphia is the contracting activity.

The San Diego-based security and technology firm appointed Patrick Howard in March to provide thought leadership to its SecureInfo subsidiary in areas regarding critical infrastructure protection.

He previously served as chief information security officer for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
