The State Department has moved to clear a proposed $400 million foreign military sale of logistics services and associated equipment in support of the U.K.’s Boeing-built (NYSE: BA) C-17 military transport aircraft.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Monday the U.K. government requested sustainment engineering, quality assurance, equipment repair, spares replenishment, maintenance, supply chain management, technical documentation and other support services for eight C-17s.
Spare and repair parts, fixed-installation satellite antennas, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast Out systems and replacement heads-up displays, among other updates, are also included in the potential deal.
DSCA noted the pending transaction is in line with the British air force’s efforts to ensure operational readiness beyond the September 2017 expiration of an existing contract for C-17 support and will require the deployment of approximately three U.S. government and 55 contractor representatives to the U.K.
