The State Department has approved Iraq’s request to buy $350 million in sustainment services for the country’s fleet of Beechcraft-built King Air 350 turboprop aircraft from the U.S. government through a foreign military sales agreement.
Iraq requested a five-year sustainment package for one KA-350 transport plane and five units of the aircraft’s ISR variant, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Thursday.
Beechcraft Defense, a subsidiary of Textron (NYSE: TXT), will serve as the primary contractor for the sale that covers spares, depot-level maintenance, component repair, logistics, manual updates, maintenance training.
DSCA indicated the procurement effort will enable Iraq to continue to use its KA-350s after the expiration of an existing logistics support contract in September.
Iraq uses the aircraft in the country’s fight against the Islamic State and al-Qaeda groups.
