Sam Mehta Named President of Two Business Segments at L3Harris

L3Harris Technologies has appointed Sam Mehta as president of the space and mission systems, or SMS, and communications and spectrum dominance, or CSD, segments as part of an updated leadership structure focused on operational execution and customer mission support.

The Melbourne, Florida-based company said Thursday Mehta and Ken Bedingfield, president of the missile solutions segment, will continue reporting directly to Christopher Kubasik, L3Harris chairman and CEO. The company also announced that Jon Rambeau, formerly president of communications and spectrum dominance, has departed to serve as CEO of Karman Space.

Kubasik, a three-time Wash100 Award winner, described Mehta as a “proven operator with a strong track record of delivering results.”

“We remain focused on our highest priority – providing innovative technology at the speed and scale required to rebuild today’s industrial base and preserve peace through strength,” Kubasik said.

What Are Mehta’s New Responsibilities?

As head of SMS and CSD, Mehta will oversee corporate strategy, financial outcomes, operational success and organizational growth for both business segments, including oversight of a workforce of nearly 34,000 personnel tasked with delivering integrated, mission-essential capabilities across multiple domains.

Who Is Sam Mehta?

Mehta, who has led the SMS segment since early 2026, brings about 25 years of leadership experience in the aerospace and defense sector.

Before joining L3Harris in 2023 as president of the communication systems segment, he served as president of advanced structures and mechanical systems at Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon business unit. He was also president of aftermarket services at UTC Aerospace Systems and held multiple leadership roles during his more than 17 years with Sikorsky Aircraft. He started his career as an assistant counsel at Otis Elevator.
