The State Department has approved a potential $115 million foreign military sale of AEA-18G electronic warfare range system from the U.S. government to Australia in a transaction that includes Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) as the hardware contractor and General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) as the software provider.
Australia sought further funds on top of the $79.09 million requested in an original FMS case for two EW range systems as part of the country’s effort to conduct EW and electronic surveillance training exercises within its borders, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Monday.
The sale also includes integration testing, tools and test equipment, spare and repair parts, publications, operations manuals, technical documents, personnel training, technical assistance and logistics and program support.
Australia intends for the EW systems to deter regional threats and build up the country’s homeland defense posture.
This FMS transaction calls for 10 U.S. government or contractor representatives to support the integration and range operational and maintenance training initiatives in Australia.
