SRC Awarded $100M EPA Chemical Hazard Assessment Support IDIQ

SRC has secured a five-year, $100M contract to help the Environmental Protection Agency assess new and existing chemical hazards.

The nonprofit research and development company said Wednesday it will continue working with the EPA Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics in efforts to evaluate chemical-based environmental and health hazards as well as develop computerized prediction tools.

Under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, SRC will also help the agency explore methods to identify products with safer chemical ingredients and craft risk assessment guidance.

The sole IDIQ award will extend support services the company has provided to EPA since the 1990s and may involve a significant amount of work to comply with the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act.

SRC looks to add 25 biologists, toxicologists and chemists at company offices in Syracuse, N.Y., and Arlington, Va.
