SES has acquiredIntelsat to expand its presence as a major global satellite operator and boost its capacity to deliver connectivity services to its global customers.
Join David Broadbent, president of government solutions at Intelsat, at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2025 Air and Space Summit to learn about the latest air and space initiatives and technological advancements.
Enhancing Connectivity Services
The Luxembourg-based SES said Thursday the acquisition expands its fleet to 120 satellites across two orbits — 90 in the geostationary Earth orbit and 30 in the medium Earth orbit. The move also strengthens its workforce with the addition of personnel experienced in multi-orbit, multi-band satellite and connectivity services.
The expanded satellite fleet, combined with access to low Earth orbit satellites and a ground network, enables the company to leverage complementary spectrum bands to boost connectivity and provide tailored services to government, aviation, maritime and media sectors.
SES CEO on the Intelsat Acquisition
Adel Al-Saleh, CEO of SES, said, “In this new chapter, we are bringing together a powerful mix of talented people, network infrastructure, spectrum, innovation and global relationships that will allow us to deliver next-generation connectivity and space-enabled services in smarter and quicker ways.”
