Staffan Truve, chief technology officer and co-founder of Somerville, Mass.-based threat intelligence platforms provider Recorded Future, has said government agencies should consider using artificial intelligence and machine learning platforms in order to accelerate the analysis of large amounts of data and identify potential cyber threats.
Truve wrote that machine learning-based tools work to process data derived from the dark web, social media feeds and other sources in various languages and convert unstructured data into actionable intelligence.
He cited how machine learning systems can help analyze and derive insights from discussions on a particular cyber vulnerability and discussed how the airline industry can leverage machine-based threat intelligence to defend systems from malware.
Truve noted that agencies seeking to facilitate the decision-making process should adopt a machine learning platform designed to carry out such tasks as data aggregation, labeling, contextualization and comparison.
