Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received a three-year, $136.5 million modification under a U.S. Navy contract for the low-rate initial production of a radar system designed to detect air and surface targets as well as ballistic missile threats.
The Navy will deploy the Air and Missile Defense Radar from the company on a DDGFlight III destroyer ship, the Defense Departmentsaid Thursday.
Work under the modification will occur in Marlborough, Massachusetts, through April 2021.
The service branch will use fiscal 2018 shipbuilding and conversion funds on this award and Raytheon will receive the full amount.
AMDR is designed to integrate with DDG 51 and DDG 1000 destroyers, Littoral Combat Ships, aircraft carriers, amphibious warfare ships and frigates.
