Oshkosh Defense Lands $165M Order for Heavy Tactical Vehicles From Army

The U.S. Army has ordered 225 trucks and 54 trailers, valued at a total of $165 million, from Oshkosh Defense.

The Oshkosh Corp. business said Wednesday that it received a new order under the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles, or FHTV, contract awarded in August 2024

Army’s Heavy Tactical Vehicles Contract

Under the contract, Oshkosh Defense will also supply the HEMTT A4 heavy tactical vehicle variant, which offers greater horsepower compared to its predecessor and enhanced safety features for agile operations. In addition, the company will deliver the A2 version of its rugged palletized load system, which supports automation.

The recent award will support Army components, such as the National Guard, Reserve and the Program Executive Office Missiles and Space.

“Through our valued partnership with the U.S. Army, we are proud to support the critical role of the National Guard and Reserve forces and enable the integration of next-generation defense capabilities,” commented Pat Williams, chief programs officer at Oshkosh Defense. “These orders demonstrate the versatility of the FHTV fleet to fill diverse mission sets across all Army components and underscores Oshkosh’s ability to deliver scalable, mission-ready solutions.”

The FHTV contract has a five-year ordering period with a potential value of $1.5 billion.

Oshkosh Delivering Medium Vehicles to the Army

The company also has a contract from the Army for Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles, or FMTV. Oshkosh Defense in February secured a $214.8 million order for low-velocity air drop vehicles and FMTV A2s, which offer increased payload capacity, stability control systems and advanced suspensions to better navigate challenging terrains.
