In September 2020, Whiting-Turner secured an estimated $189 million firm-fixed-price contract award from the U.S. Navy. Under the agreement, Whiting-Turner replaced various facilities affected by Hurricane Florence in North Carolina. It entails seven replacement project constructs at the following sites:

  • Hadnot Point Fire Station
  • The Naval Criminal Investigative Service facilities

In July 2022, Whiting-Turner was awarded an estimated $111 firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Coast Guard. Under the agreement, the contractor was required to provide all materials, labor, and equipment to build a new waterfront, shore structures, and supporting facility for four national security cutters (NSCs) at Pier November.

The work is being performed in North Charleston, South Carolina.

In September 2019, the Whiting-Turner received an estimated $85 million firm-fixed-price contract with an estimated ceiling value of $107 million if all options and modifications were applied. The task orders were to design and construct basic training facilities, including a schoolhouse and a combat training tank complex for the Naval Special Warfare Command at the Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado, the SEAL training base.

The agreement included two unexercised options: renovating and constructing boat support and medical facilities. It also contained six planned modifications: fixtures, furniture, audiovisual equipment, and physical security equipment.

The project had an expected completion date of August 2022.

In April 2018, Whiting-Turner won an estimated $102 million firm-fixed-price contract to construct the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic Communication Center at Naval Station Norfolk. The work performed in Virginia included the following:

  • Constructing a multistory and steel-framed building with a reinforced concrete exterior, secured area construction, and a brick facade
  • A building roof with an antenna distribution system and radio frequency antennas
  • Administrative, operational, and support spaces

The project had an expected completion date of October 2020.

In August 2021, Whiting-Turner was awarded an estimated $59 million firm-fixed-price contract modification of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. In this project, Whiting-Turner was contracted to build an elevated three-story structure on the south end of Building 178 and to renovate the ground floor area to make way for the waterfront support field shop operations for naval submarine work at PNS.

This project will provide overhead clearance on the ground and second floors for field shops and team space on the third and fourth floors. The work has an expected completion date of May 2023.

In July 2018, Whiting-Turner won an estimated $54 million firm-fixed-price contract award to build the Food and Drug Administration’s new Winchester Engineering and Analytical Center (WEAC) in Massachusetts.

The old WEAC center was built in 1952 and can no longer support the FDA’s current program requirements. Major laboratory installations were required to support FDA’s services in specialty areas, including device and radiation-emitting product testing, microbiology analyses, and radionuclides research.

The construction and design of the new facility follow the National Institute of Health Design Requirements Manual for Biomedical Laboratories and Animal Research Facilities and the 2015 International Building Code.

The performance period started in October 2018, with an expected completion date of July 2021.
