ID.me Secures $1B IRS Agreement for Digital Identity Services

The Internal Revenue Service has awarded ID.me a blanket purchase agreement under the General Services Administration’s Federal Supply Schedule for identity verification and authentication products and services.

The agreement is valued at up to $1 billion with an ordering completion date of Dec. 29, 2030, according to a notice on the Federal Procurement Data System.

What Is ID.me?

Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, ID.me is a digital identity company that enables users to securely and seamlessly prove their identity online and access various websites and services.

According to the company, its identity verification and authentication platform supports 156 million users across 21 federal agencies, 50 state agencies and over 70 healthcare organizations.

ID.me complies with consumer authentication standards set by the Department of Commerce.

Which Other Agencies Are Using ID.me?

The company also recently secured a contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to provide access and an improved user experience on Medicare.gov.

Under the contract, Medicare beneficiaries can use ID.me as an identity verification and sign-in option on Medicare.gov.

“Healthcare access should be simple, secure, and trustworthy for every American,” Blake Hall, CEO of ID.me, stated. “By extending ID.me’s high-assurance identity capabilities across CMS and Medicare.gov, we’re creating a more unified patient experience while strengthening overall program integrity.”

The Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs also use ID.me.
