General Micro Systems has received a potential three-year, $88 million contract to supply rugged server and display systems for integration into the U.S. Army‘s Type II medium mine protection vehicles.
The systems are designed to run a multifunction video display technology and process full motion videos from MMPV sensors with the use of Intel‘s Xeon processor, GMS said Monday.
Each GMS system will comprise two displays, two chassis and an ultra-rugged server that consists of a 1/10 gigabit Ethernet switch, media storage, CITV/DVR, video-over-IP, two smart-panel PCs and a router.
The company developed the system with the Army™s night vision and electronic sensors directorate under the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle Systems program.
GMS and the service branch will showcase the display technology at an Association of the United States Army eventscheduled to take place in Washington from Oct. 9 to 11.
