General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) mission systems business has received a potential five-year, $208.9 million contract to produce, test and deliver AN/USC-61(C) digital modular radio systems and high-frequency distribution amplifier group components to the U.S. Navy.
The Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday GDMS will also provide spares and engineering services intended to help the Navy field and maintain the systems.
DMR is designed to be reprogrammable with the use of software and employs an embedded cryptography that supports all radio frequency conversion functions needed for communications systems to operate at frequencies between 2 megahertz and 2 gigahertz.
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a $198 million initial value and would reach its cumulative value if the option is exercised.
GDMS will perform work at a company facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, and is scheduled to finish in December 2022.
The Navy will obligate funds upon issuance of orders.
