- Xcelerate has added former OPM official Bill Pedersen to its enterprise vetting and analysis leadership team
- Pedersen previously supported the federal government’s Trusted Workforce 2.0 and worked as a background investigator at DCSA
- Brett Mencin, president of enterprise vetting at Xcelerate, said Pedersen strengthens the company’s capability to support agencies
Xcelerate Solutions has expanded its Enterprise Vetting and Analysis division leadership team with the addition of Bill Pedersen, a former Office of Personnel Management official.
Brett Mencin, who became president of enterprise vetting at Xcelerate in February, said in a press release posted Wednesday that Pedersen’s experience in “vetting reform, investigative policy and government transformation aligns” with the company’s mission to support federal customers.
“His leadership, vision, and deep understanding of the evolving trusted workforce landscape will strengthen our ability to support agencies across the federal government,” Mencin added.
Pedersen said on his LinkedIn profile that he is leading the company’s background investigation strategy and enablement.
Who Is Bill Pedersen?
Pedersen joins Xcelerate following over four years at OPM, where he most recently served as division director. He also held the roles of acting deputy suitability director and oversaw the agency’s personnel vetting policy development as branch chief.
He was involved in the federal government’s Trusted Workforce 2.0 initiative, which was developed to modernize how agencies and industry conduct security clearance checks.
Earlier in his career, Pedersen worked as a background investigator at the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency.
What Recent Growth Initiatives Has Xcelerate Pursued?
Pedersen’s appointment comes as Xcelerate pursues growth and expansion. The company acquired General Dynamics Information Technology’s background investigation assets in December to support defense and intelligence customers.
In December, Xcelerate nearly tripled the size of its headquarters from 7,759 to 23,073 square feet in Tysons, Fairfax County, Virginia. The expanded facility, the company said, will accommodate additional staff members and operations.
