Momentus (Nasdaq: MNTS) has secured a Federal Communications Commission license to use radio frequencies to support communications for the first launch of its Vigoride orbital transfer vehicle.
The FCC consulted with other government agencies to authorize Momentus to use radio frequencies to communicate with the spacecraft following its upcoming May launch on the SpaceX Transporter-5 mission, the company said Friday.
The authorization comes after Momentus secured approval for the request to modify the Vigoride satellite system.
Momentus CEO John Rood said the company is making progress with meeting regulatory requirements for the upcoming launch of the propulsion system to low-Earth orbit.
The company is still awaiting payload approval from the Federal Aviation Administration before initiating the vehicle’s inaugural flight.
The California-based commercial space company aims to generate a small amount of revenue by taking customer payloads to LEO on Vigoride.
