RAND Corp. has received a potential $494.7 million contract to manage and run a federally funded research and development center for the Department of Homeland Security.
DHS said Tuesday the Santa Monica, California-based nonprofit research organization will help the Homeland Security Operational Analysis Center perform independent analyses and studies in support of DHS™ mission in seven study areas.
Those study areas include research and development, innovation, homeland security threats and opportunities, organization, acquisition, operations, as well as regulatory doctrine and policy studies.
Robert Griffin, deputy undersecretary for science and technology at DHS, said the department expects HSOAC to help meet new and emerging requirements through the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
RAND will also help HSOAC perform assessments and provide recommendations for DHS in support of its homeland security efforts.
